Welcome Aboard! This newsletter is designed to help you navigate through the certification program process. We applaud your commitment to quality and understand that you want to bring to your organization that measure of achievement and distinction awarded to those who have achieved JCAHO Certification status. The journey begins in this issue as we  address your readiness to move forward with the application through Gap Analysis, an exciting tool that maps out where you are and what you need to know to get going. We'll also look at the first JCAHO Standard : Leadership.

Smooth sailing ahead in subsequent issues where we will address additional standards and how we can assist you to accomplish them.

Enjoy the journey!

Gap Analysis: Are You Ready?

An effective Gap Analysis for JCAHO Certification should record for a staffing firm where you are, where you need to go, what actions are needed to get there, and how long it will take. This exercise is critical so you can assess a timeline that includes:

* Date to apply since applications are only good for six months

* Reasonable date to meet the four-month track record for      implementation of all standards and data collection trended and analyzed

* Reasonable date for the JCAHO site visit

MHS has completed multiple gap analyses utilizing a computerized, dynamic tool that serves as a working document for the client.

Step I on your journey to certification!

Leadership Standard

 The Foundation for Successful Certification

The leadership standard defines the structure and framework for supporting the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. It is the foundation for meeting each of the other standards. The leaders set the standard that must be practiced by the entire organization. The leaders also set the tone for all remaining JCAHO standards. The Emergency Management and Safety Plan is a major component of the Leadership Standard and requires that disaster planning and recovery be addressed.

MHS has developed the necessary templates that can be individualized to assist you in meeting all of the standards.
