Text Box: Peter the Peacemaker
With a chocolate grin Peter the Peteeatrick Panda,™ stuffed with more than just love, waddled through the pediatric unit of the hospital. Suddenly, Peter heard someone crying. There was a little girl bunny who needed comforting. The nurse's stuffed animal cuddled up beside her, so she did not feel alone.
"My ears hurt," said Hoppy the Bunny as Peter gave her a hug. "He hurt me," she said between her sobs. She pointed to another patient, a long-necked giraffe. "We were playing basketball and he bit my ear." Hoppy said as Peter wiped away her tears.
A strange noise came from the other side of the room and Jeffrey the Long-Necked Giraffe started to tell his side of the story. "I swallowed my tooth and it is stuck in my long neck, so I bet I will need an operation." said Jeffrey the Long-Necked Giraffe trying hard not to burp.
"We were playing a game and the winner was supposed to take those cookies home." Hoppy explained pointing to the box of Girl Scout cookies. A loud burp came from Jeffrey's side of the room, “BRRUUUPP!!”
"So, the tooth is stuck in your long neck, am I right?" Peter asked. All Jeffrey did was burp again. "Here comes the X-ray technician with a small camera to take a picture or an X-ray." Peter explained, “We can take the x-ray right here without going to another part of the hospital.” Burp! Burp! "X-ray machines are being made smaller and some are portable". The technician snapped the button and the x-ray was taken.
The little girl bunny hopped over to Jeffery's bed. She had a funny looking mask on her face so she would not catch any germs from Jeffrey in case he had a cold and was coughing not just burping.
	"Can I see the X-ray Peter?"she asked.
“You have to ask Jeffrey.” Peter replied.
"Sure Hoppy once it is developed", Jeffrey answered. "Buuuurrrrpp!"

Text Box: All of a sudden there was a ring. "All done!" Peter exclaimed.
"What does it look like?" Hoppy enthusiastically asked.
"It looks like Jeffrey has a tooth stuck in his throat and the only remedy is…”
“Burp! Burp! Burp!"
Before Peter was able to complete the sentence Jeffrey burped again and out came the tooth flying so high it hit Hoppy in the face! Her surgical mask protected her from getting hurt and from any of Jeffrey's germs. The tooth bounced off her mask and was still in the air when Jeffrey scooped it up just before it hit the ground. Since he was not sick anymore he could go home and put the tooth under his pillow for the tooth fairy.
Text Box: Peter headed over to the box of Girl Scout cookies. One quickly disappeared into Peter's mouth. Then he took two more cookies out and placed them on either side of a dish of ice cream.
Taking a tape recorder out of his pocket, Peter began to talk into the recorder and diagnose what had happened between Jeffrey and Hoppy.
"You were playing a basketball game and the cookies were for the winner. Everything got really serious and Jeffrey broke his tooth when he bit Hoppy's ear."
“That is correct. " Hoppy said.
"I can agree with that." Jeffrey added.
They started to smile at each other and they each said sorry.
Text Box: "Wasn't this silly Hoppy?" asked Jeffrey. “Fighting is not a fun game.”
Peter served the dish of ice cream with two cookies. He asked Hoppy and Jeffrey to join him for a bite of sweets.
"Here is a spoon for you, Hoppy," Peter offered "and here is a spoon for you, Jeffrey."
"Games are fun but sometimes we take things too seriously," Peter said "that is OK but in the end sharing is the most important thing of all."
Together they all ate their ice cream and Girl Scout cookies. And you know something? Hoppy's ear didn't hurt that much and the ice cream soothed Jeffrey's throat. Both went home as best friends and feeling much better.

Team Peter #1

In partnership with

A cure is a solution or remedy, and when it happens you feel better.  In our story the bunny and giraffe were not playing nicely and they became mad at each other.  They talked it out and said they were sorry.  They shared ice cream and cookies and were friends again.  The sharing was the cure.

If you know friends who are upset with each other, be just like Peter and get a big bowl of ice cream decorated with cookies.

Invite both friends to share this special treat.
